Unable to update reserved instance scope, and user already has Owner role

Hi there,

May someone please assist, Im trying to change the scope of reserved instances from shared to single subscription but im getting an error. The role has not been recently added and is a long standing Owner user account.

    Figured it out, you have to add the user as an owner on each RI

    Hi Anonymous456,

    You can make the following types of changes to a reservation after purchase:

    • Update reservation scope
    • Instance size flexibility (if applicable)
    • Ownership

    A reservation’s scope can be for a Single Subscription or Shared. Single Subscription scope is straightforward. It would, for example, apply to all VMs running within the specified subscription. With Shared scope, it would include all subscriptions within the enrollment for enterprise customers. For Pay-As-You-Go customers, Shared scope would include all subscriptions created by the account administrator. This further helps with budgeting as you can isolate the requirements by department, for example. You can update the scope of the reservation through Azure Portal, PowerShell, CLI, or API for additional flexibility.

    Azure RIs enable you to reserve Virtual Machines on a one- or three-year term, and provide up to 72% cost savings versus pay-as-you-go prices.
