Azure AI assistants code interpreter only seeing file ids

Hi everyone,

We are currently working on an AI assistant that utilizes the code interpreter. However, we've encountered a limitation: the code interpreter can only access the file IDs of the files but not additional metadata such as file names, sizes, or timestamps.

We were wondering if there are any plans to expand the metadata accessibility for the code interpreter in the foreseeable future. Any insights or information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Lucas Snijder,

The code interpreter currently only accesses file IDs, not metadata like file names, sizes, or timestamps. This limitation is in AI systems to ensure security and privacy. There’s no public information about plans to expand metadata access, but it could happen if there’s enough demand.
However, you can keep an eye on What's new in Azure AI Services page will be updated accordingly with more details.

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you have any further queries.
