Dear Community,

I am unable to create a new project in MS Project despite having a valid assigned license (Plan E3) and subscription. It shows up in my Apps but when I try to create a new project, it says I do not have a subscription. Could not find a solution to this anywhere. I have tried different browsers, emptying the cache, signing out and in again. But nothing worked. And yes, I am logged in with the same work account on Project as well.

Would anyone have a solution for this, please?

TIA

    Hi Sanchita K,

Appreciate your query over the Microsoft Q&A platform.

Microsoft Project is not included in Microsoft 365 E3. Although Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and other Office programs and services are accessible through E3, Microsoft Project is not included. You would need to have a separate subscription to one of the following Microsoft Project plans in order to use Microsoft Project to create and manage projects:

    • Project Plan 1
    • Project Plan 3
    • Project Plan 5
    1. Check Your License: Verify Your License Verify that your account is linked to a Microsoft Project license. You can check with your IT department or visit the Microsoft 365 admin center if you have admin access. Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center and look up the licenses linked to your account if you have administrator privileges.
    2. Assign the Correct License You must have a Microsoft Project license assigned if you don't already have one. To assign you a Project Plan 1, 3, or 5 license, get in touch with your IT administrator.
    3. Use the Correct Application: Verify that you are utilizing the appropriate Microsoft Project version. Make sure you are using the correct portal (https://project.microsoft.com) to access Project for the web.
    4. Clear Cache, Cookies, and Updates: Although you indicated that you have already attempted this, make sure you completely clear the cache and cookies in your browser or try using a private or incognito window. Ensure that your Microsoft Project application is up to date. Sometimes, issues can arise from using an outdated version.
