Request for Migration Assistance – Microsoft IIS & SQL to Azure

We are migrating our .NET-hosted applications from our current provider to Microsoft Azure and need migration assistance. Our current environment consists of Microsoft IIS Web Servers and SQL Standard Servers running on VMware ESXi 7.

We are attempting to obtain VMDK copies of our servers for a direct migration. If this method is not feasible, we need guidance on building IIS and SQL environments on Azure and exploring alternative migration tools. Can you provide recommendations on the best approach and available Azure tools for this process?

Our migration timeline is 60 days from start to completion. Can we schedule a Zoom call with our COO and team to discuss migration strategies and establish a plan?

Since you are trying to migrate your IIS Web Servers and SQL Standard Servers running on VMware ESXi 7, and obtaining VMDK copies, you can use Azure Migrate toll ("Servers Migration") to migrate these VMDK files directly to Azure as Azure Virtual Machines (VMs).

So, use Azure Migrate tool to assess your current environment. Azure Migrate provides a centralized hub to track discovery, assessment, and migration of your on-premises applications and workloads.

Please ensure your servers are compatible with azure before going to migrate them by following the below docs

Verify the Azure Migrate support matrix

Have a Migrate Appliance over VMware environment.

Then discover your server: Discover servers running in a VMware environment with Azure Migrate

Once you discover the servers Assess VMware VMs for migration to Azure VMs

And Assess SQL instances in VMware VMs for migration to Azure SQL

Find server dependencies using dependency mapping.

The set up agentless or agent-based dependency mapping.

Once your servers are capable enough to migrate follow the migration process. Select a VMware migration option and Migrate VMware VMs with agentless migration.
