Hi, I am currently studying for the AZ-900, however, I am currently experiencing the following error when attempting to access the sandbox:

Request Id: 611ab676-6894-4450-a27f-db6df01c6000

Correlation Id: 7c3b98ee-12a1-493b-be35-e092e856a08b

Timestamp: 2025-03-05T17:18:55Z

Message: AADSTS500200: User account '****@outlook.com' is a personal Microsoft account. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported for this application unless explicitly invited to an organization. Try signing out and signing back in with an organizational account.

I found a post that explained I needed a work/school account to sign in but this doesn't make much sense to me as anybody should be able to use the Azure course material to study for the exam. It does not specify that the learning material is only for work/school individuals.

Please can somebody assist with this as it is significantly slowing down my learning

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

    Hello Javraj Gidda

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A Platform
I wanted to address your concern about accessing the Azure sandbox in Microsoft Learn while preparing for the AZ-900 exam. You're absolutely right that anyone should be able to study using Microsoft's learning materials. However, the Azure sandbox used in Microsoft Learn requires an organizational (work/school) account since it operates within an enterprise-controlled environment. Unfortunately, personal Microsoft accounts (e.g., @outlook.com, @hotmail.com) are not supported for this feature.

You can sign up for a free Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) account, which will provide you with an organizational account. Simply go to the Microsoft 365 Developer Program and sign up for a free tenant. Then, use this new account to sign in to Microsoft Learn and access the sandbox.

Try the Azure Free Trial Instead: If you're open to using a personal account, you can still get hands-on experience by signing up for an Azure Free Trial, which gives you $200 in credits.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance. Happy studying and best of luck with your AZ-900 exam preparation!

    Hi Javraj Gidda,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q & A forum.

There is currently an issue with sandbox activation, and our internal team is actively working on resolving it. In the meantime, you can use the workaround below to complete your exercise.

You should be able to work around the issue by first Activating the sandbox (solving puzzles, reviewing permissions, etc.) and then once you see the sign-in box appear on the right open a new browser tab. In this new tab, browse to https://shell.azure.com. If your existing sandbox hasn't expired you can use that instead of activating a new one.

    When prompted, click Bash

Next choose No storage account required, for Subscription select Concierge Subscription, and click Apply.

After several seconds delay while a cloud shell is requested and connected to, you should see $ prompt. At this point you can complete the exercises instructions, copy/paste code from exercise tab to cloud shell tab as needed, etc.

Additionally, you should be able to open a separate browser tab with the Azure portal to complete your exercise seamlessly.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions.
