Hi,

We are trying to upgrade SCOM 2022 to UR2. It fails instantly saying product not installed. It is and has been running fine for ages. The Product # is valid and matches the # trying to upgrade.

Have uninstalled, reinstalled, have even rebuilt the VM with no joy.

Any advice please?

Thanks

    Hi,

It seems like you're encountering a common issue with the SCOM 2022 UR2 update.

Here are a few steps and considerations that might help resolve the error code 1642:

    1. Verify the Update Version:
      • Ensure that you have the correct and latest version of the UR2 update. There was an issue with the initial release of UR2, which was later fixed and repackaged. The interim version that was pulled is 10.22.10605.0, and the fixed version is 10.22.10610.0. Make sure you are using the updated version.
    2. Check for Product Installation:
      • The error code 1642 indicates that the update patch cannot be installed because the program to be upgraded may be missing or the patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the SCOM 2022 product is correctly installed and that the version matches the update requirements.
      Log Files:
      • Review the detailed log files for more specific error messages. The MsiInstaller log can provide insights into what might be going wrong. You can enable verbose logging for the Windows Installer to get more detailed information.
    3. Reinstallation and Patching:
      • Since you have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, ensure that all components of SCOM are correctly reinstalled. Follow the step-by-step guide for applying the update rollup package on the server infrastructure, including Management Servers, Audit Collection Servers, Web Console Servers, Gateway Servers, Operations Console Servers, and Reporting Server.
