You can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:
- Make sure your VPN is configured correctly and allows RDP traffic. You can use the ping command to test the connectivity between the local client and the remote server.
- When you use a Microsoft account to log in to a remote desktop, the format is “MicrosoftAccount\ account email”. If you are connecting to a DOMAIN remotely through a VPN, try using a Username format such as "DOMAIN\username" or "******@domain.com".
- Check whether NLA(Network Level Authentication) is enabled on your server. If so, try disabling it temporarily and see if you can fix the problem.
