Hi Jeff,
Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.
Here are some potential solutions:
Ensure that network discovery and file sharing are enabled on your Windows 11 computer.
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Advanced sharing settings.
- Under Private, ensure that Turn on network discovery and Turn on file and printer sharing are selected.
- Under Guest or Public, ensure the same options are enabled (if your network is set to public).
Ensure that the shared folder permissions are correctly set.
- Right-click the folder you want to share and select Properties.
- Go to the Sharing tab and click Advanced Sharing.
- Check Share this folder and then click Permissions.
- Ensure that the Everyone group has at least Read or Change permissions.
Ensure your network profile is set to private, which allows more sharing and connectivity options.
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
- Click on your current network connection (e.g., Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
- Under Network profile, select Private.
Ensure that the firewall is not blocking file sharing.
- Open Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall.
- Click Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall on the left side.
- Find File and Printer Sharing and make sure it is checked for both private and public networks.
Ensure both computers are in the same workgroup.
- Right-click This PC and select Properties.
- Click Advanced system settings, then go to the Computer Name tab.
- Ensure the workgroup name is the same. If not, click Change to modify it.
Best regards
