Hi, I am using windows 10. I am trying to install network printer but I am getting an error while installation.

"Operation could not be completed error 0x709 please double check the printer name".

I have tried installing two different network printers, both responded with same error. I have tried registry editor. Group policy editor does not show RPG configuration.

An anyone guide please.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

To resolve the error code 0x00000709, you must first change the printer name in Registry Editor and then change the RPC connection settings policy. If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can run the printer troubleshooter, change the printer preferences settings, and uninstall the problematic update.

Please follow the link below to troubleshoot: How to Fix "Error 0x00000709: Operation Could Not Be Completed" on Windows (makeuseof.com)

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,

This is the expected error when the machine sharing the printer is using a hostname greater than 15 characters.

By design in Windows. Rename the print server.

If you setup a CNAME for the print server, then you will need the registry setting so the spooler on the server can respond to an alternate name.
