Good morning,
I am wondering why updates managed by Azure Update Management do not show in the Update History when installed to our on-premise servers?
Some of them show in Programs and Features > View Installed Updates but not all.

Thanks for the question and apologies for the delayed response. Will try to help get you a solution however I need some clarity on the issue you are seeing.
From reviewing your question, I understand you are unable to view Update History on your on-premise (Non-Azure) servers. Is this a recent issue?
Can you confirm the OS running on your impacted servers i.e. Windows or Linux? Also confirm you followed the OS-specific deployment steps for Windows, Linux,
Assuming you successfully connected your non-azure servers to a log analytics workspace, I recommend running the OS appropriate log query against your linked workspace to verify your non-azure servers have been enabled for update management - sample queries below.
Linux:
Heartbeat
| where OSType == "Linux" | summarize arg_max(TimeGenerated, *) by SourceComputerId | top 500000 by Computer asc | render table
Windows:
Heartbeat
| where OSType == "Windows" | summarize arg_max(TimeGenerated, *) by SourceComputerId | top 500000 by Computer asc | render table
HI @Anonymous - also worth mentioning that issues like the one you are hitting can be caused by incomplete configuration of networking, proxy, firewall settings on the agent.
If the agent is configured to communicate with the internet through a firewall or proxy server, confirm the firewall or proxy server is properly configured.
To learn how to verify the firewall or proxy server is properly configured, review Network configuration for Windows agent or Network configuration for Linux agent.

Thank you very much for getting back to me.
The Azure Update Management side seems to be working perfectly.
On the on-premise servers themselves (Windows Server 2019), when you go into Settings > Update & Security > View update history - none of the Azure Update Management installed updates show up on there.
To see what's been installed on the on-premise servers themselves by Azure Update Management, you need to go into Control Panel> Programs and Features > View installed updates - some of them seem to be shown in there (but not all as advised by Azure Update Management.
My concern is the update information not being in sync in these two locations across multiple servers. Surely they should both display the same information between in Settings and Control Panel?

Was this ever figured out. We just started using Azure Update Manager and I too have noticed that when you get on the physical server and check update history it does not show them. However in "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log" log file shows them installed as well as Azure Update Manager. Is this working correctly?

Same issue here. First time we've used it so going to try setting all to restart after the update and see if that helps.

I am also experiencing this. Azure Update Manager reports correctly after it has patched a VM, but my Azure VM does not show any history. I have to look into the logs to get proof.

This is happening in our environment as well. I assumed that it was just how it is but I feel like there is some sort of disconnect happening.
