How to Solve the Eye strain issues on the Latest Version of Visual Studio 2022 update 17.13.2 ?
Hi there, I am a full-time software Engineer mostly working in .NET technologies (like - WPF, Windows Forms). In our company C# is behemoth horse due to the extensive use of it across different products we make, from Web to Desktop Applications. We use Visual Studio as our primary IDE instead of any other IDE available on the Internet. We used Visual Studio for more than 10 years.
But in the Latest version of Visual Studio 2022 the update 17.13.2 causing severe Eye strain issue.
Now Let's describe what it is or what the issue exactly is? And what problem and situation I am facing now. After this update 17.13.2 the Visual Studio UI color became too dark that means if I have previously used the "Dark Theme" then the black color is too dark, though it is not the case for earlier version like 17.13.1. This too dark color shade is not differentiable at a quick fast glance, maybe it's nothing to a normal people but people with sensitive eyes suffer the most because it's causing severe Eye Strain, headache and migraine.
We don't have any problem if Microsoft biased towards too dark color shades to use it across their products but there should some other options should present there so people with sensitive eyes should not suffer the new UI Design color changes. Though I already tried with the other Visual Studio themes (like - Light, Blue etc.) but it's still the color shades which is hurting my eyes on the Latest version update 17.13.2.
I'm looking for a color shade between Dark and Light, so the color shades will not hurt my eyes. Again, I say the same thing that it's nothing to do with the themes, it's about color depth and shade.
Please just restore the previous version UI color shades and themes. The earlier version 17.13.1 is almost perfect and easy on eyes.
Currently I am using the Visual Studio 2022 Community Edition though I have the Enterprise License from my Software company but I am quite comfortable with the Community Edition. Because the Community Edition has almost the exact same feature which I needed for my WPF App development compare to the other edition like - Professional & Enterprise.
I know that from the Visual Studio installer, I can Roll back to the Previous Version but that's not a good idea because it's a great idea to use the latest version which is fast and reliable and have less bugs compare to the previous update and also have performance benefits, well optimized.
But in this case the color shade completely breaks the usability of the product. Now I am unable to use it for my Coding Projects because I get eye fatigue every time when I use it, it really affects my mental health and as well as my professional career.
Earlier I have faced these similar issues in a popular Video Editing Software name Adobe Premiere Pro, in their Latest versions. Actually, Adobe introduces the "Spectrum UI", it's basically a new design system along with the refreshment of the UI (User Interface). They also choose the "too much dark" shades with high contrast colors which cause terrible eye strain and migraine.
Here is the Link where I share this UI Themes causing Eye strain issue in their Adobe community forum, though Adobe takes necessary steps to tackle down this issue but only 70% problem is solved, may be in next update they solve it completely.
The new UI is quite different in this case, Where the dark colors (like - Black, brown etc.) are too much dark and you can also call it as an extensively dark. The problem is this "too much Dark" color shade is hurting people who have sensitive eyes and earlier have a medical history of Eye allergies.
I don't know that why big companies (like - Microsoft, Adobe) does not take any necessary steps to counter these issues. Or at least they should be careful or should do thorough research before rolling out these UI color to the Worldwide users. They can also hire medical professional (like - ophthalmologist (Eye Specialist)) to determine which dark shade are easier on Eyes.
I hope Some honorable Microsoft Engineers are seeing this post and I really have a good trust and faith on this Microsoft Community forum and Question & Answer site, that they give me some authentic solution and address these issues to Microsoft Support.
Please restore the color shade from the earlier version 17.13.1 which is perfectly suited for eyes Across Every user like normal people to people with Sensitive eyes.
Again, I say the same and main thing of this Question is, Microsoft should choose the color shades of their products from the feedback of the users and from their large community of the contributor, please don't test any random color calibration which can hurt people eyes.
If this issue will not fix then I will stick at a same version forever in this Lifetime which really will demotivate my Computer Science and coding career. Please solve it.
