Word.exe keeps crashing unexpectedly

My computer keeps crashing unexpectedly with Word during use. The error message is as follows. I’ve tried to repair and reinstall it, but neither solution has fixed the issue.

According to the version number 16.0.4266.1001 and the Word installation page, your Office is one of Volume licensed version. Please make sure this Office is updated to the latest.

• For Volume licensed Office 2016, please search "Oputil.vbs script" online and download this script.
• Then download the newest .msp files (Include Non-security and "Security" updates from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/home.aspxaccording to the kb number shown on: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/msp-files-office-2016#list-of-all-msp-files, put them together with "Oputil.vbs script" in a folder.
• Search "cmd" in search box, run Command Prompt use cd command to locate to this folder
• Then run cscript oputil.vbs /apply patch
• All patches in the folder will be installed automatically

This issue may also be caused by a program that is incompatible with Word.

Have you installed any software or updates recently before this issue occurs, such as graphics drivers/printer drivers, Adobe add-in etc.?

• Please change the default printer in Windows and roll back or update graphics drivers for a test.

Besides, please go to Word, check whether there is a box of "Disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration" setting in File > Options > Advanced > Display. If yes, ensure the box is ticked.

Then I suggest you run Word in safe mode for a check. Safe Mode of Word can help us troubleshoot the COM add-ins.

• You can press and hold on Ctrl key, click or double-click Word icon, until Word asks if you want to start it in safe mode, then please release Ctrl key and click "Yes".
• If Word does not crash in safe mode, it's recommended click File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins, click "Go". Clear the check boxes for any enabled COM add-ins, select OK.
