Problem that i cannot open excel files directly with double clicks of mouse.

Question

When I double-click Excel files on Windows, I get a message saying:

"Cannot access the file. Try one of the following."

• The files won’t open, but if I open Excel.exe first and then load the files manually, they open and edit normally.

However, it still possible to open by dragging file onto empty excel file.

only the problem is that i cannot open files directly with double click of mouse.

Everything was working fine this morning, but in the afternoon, this issue suddenly appeared.

How can I fix this and restore normal functionality?

p.s : I am using the latest updates and version of M365 currently.

Could you please check the version number for your Office?

• To get this information, please go to Excel, click File > Account, the Office product name, version number will show under Product Information.

Will this issue occur if you directly open a workbook that its name only contains English alphabetical?

I suggest you enable UTF-8 Unicode in the system locale setting, make sure the Windows system locale is Korean.

• Please go to Control Panel > Clock and Region > Region > Administrative tab > Change system locale.

If the step does not work, I suggest you roll back Office to earlier version.
