Hello,

I’m facing an issue where I’m trying to share a folder from my OneDrive for Business account (licensed) with my personal OneDrive account (unlicensed). Even though the folder is shared with "Can Edit" permissions, it does not appear in the "Shared" section of my personal OneDrive account. Here are the exact steps I’ve taken to reproduce the issue:

Steps to Reproduce:

In OneDrive for Business (business account, licensed):

  • I right-clicked on the folder and selected "Share".
    • I shared it with my personal OneDrive account email under the "People you choose" option.
      • I selected "Can Edit" permissions, ensuring my personal account could make changes.
        • I sent the share link via Gmail to my personal email.
        In Personal OneDrive Account (unlicensed):
        - I clicked on the **shared folder link** received in **Gmail** and logged into my **personal OneDrive** account.

           - The folder opened in the browser, and I could **edit** its contents (as expected).

              - However, the folder **did not appear** in the **"Shared"** section of my **OneDrive** account (both in the web interface and the desktop app).

              **Syncing Issues**:

                 - The folder is visible when accessing the link directly, but the **"Add shortcut to OneDrive"** option does not show up.

                    - I checked my **OneDrive sync settings**, and it’s not syncing the folder locally.

What I’ve Tried:

  • Cleared browser cache and used different browsers (Chrome, Edge).
  • Checked OneDrive sync settings on my personal account (sync is enabled).
  • Re-shared the folder with the correct "Can Edit" permissions multiple times.
  • Accessed the link again to confirm the folder can be viewed and edited, but there’s still no shortcut option to add it to my OneDrive.

Expected Result:

  • The shared folder should appear in the Shared section of my personal OneDrive account and be accessible both via the web and the OneDrive desktop app.

Actual Result:

  • The folder is visible via the shared link, but it doesn’t appear in my Shared section or sync to my local OneDrive.

    Hi @Arshad Ahmed

However, the folder did not appear in the "Shared" section of my OneDrive account (both in the web interface and the desktop app). The folder is visible when accessing the link directly, but the "Add shortcut to OneDrive" option does not show up.

Indeed, this situation has been reproduced in my test environment, your issue is not unique. I can only open the shared folder from sharing link, such as via the sharing link in an email as below.User's image

But this shared folder is not shown under "With you" of my personal OneDrive Shared section.

It's recommended to vote up this similar thread in Microsoft Feedback Forum for OneDrive:

I cannot share files and folders in the “Shared with you” section of OneDrive.

This issue requires help from the Microsoft development team, but for a variety of reasons, we cannot discuss planned feature, or the date that we expect it to be released.

    Thanks for your understanding.
