I have experienced the similar issue before, and the steps below helped to resolve the issue. Please check, if it helps you too

Reinstall WAN Miniport (IP) interface drivers in the following way:

Open Device Manager.

Right-click all the network adapters whose name starts as "WAN Miniport," and then select Uninstall device. Here are some adapters that you may observe:

WAN Miniport (IP)

WAN Miniport (IPv6)

WAN Miniport (GRE)

WAN Miniport (L2TP)

WAN Miniport (Network Monitor)

WAN Miniport (PPPOE)

WAN Miniport (PPTP)

WAN Miniport (SSTP)

On the Device Manager menu bar, select Action > Scan for hardware changes. This will automatically reinstall your WAN Miniport devices.

Try connecting Azure VPN again

However, I’ve tried this approach, and unfortunately, it only resolves the issue occasionally—it seems random. Sometimes, even after following the mentioned steps, the problem persists, and I continue to encounter errors.

I’m not sure what could be causing this inconsistency.

Hi Ketan Patel

As the issue observed is intermittent, I guess the problem is with the computer that you are trying to connect the Azure VPN. It could be mostly network software/hardware issue. I suggest you install the vpn software in another computer and test it also

I found where problem is and now I´m successfully connected to the Azure VNG through a P2S connection.

I found a problem when I was looking for some clues in the temp configuration directory (in my case the configuration directory was here: C:\Users\mk\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Cm\66CA44A6-3D1B-4A14-9D68-6F8812740957). I checked out the routes.txt file and noticed I added the same routes twice in the route table file. I'm getting the same error you mentioned. Please check the route table file.

VPN client error: Azure VPN custom script failed

Symptom

When you try to connect to an Azure virtual network by using the VPN client, you receive the following error message:

Custom script (to update your routing table) failed. (Error 8007026f)

Cause

This problem might occur if you're trying to open the site-to-point VPN connection by using a shortcut.

Solution

Open the VPN package directly instead of opening it from the shortcut.
