Revert promote client in SCCM

Hi all,

Can I rollback to old version?

I test it and I know... But I promoted to new version, and now I want to rollback in a 2012 servers.

It's possible? Hot it works?

If I uninstall and install the old version, that works?

As you can see, now I have the same version in production and pre-production, but I haven't enabled the client push....
Can I revert this? The clients are pending to install, waiting maintenance window.... Can I stop it?

Whats up if they upgrade the version and then I uninstall and install the old version?

My opinion, which is just an opinion. I'm questioning "why" you feel you need to uninstall/reinstall the client to an old version. Have you experienced issues with the latest client? what issues?

I haven't seen issues with the CM client for YEARS.

fyi, I do not work for Microsoft, I'm just another admin, like you. I'm just questioning why you feel you need to create work for yourself. What problem(s) are you experiencing? Maybe instead of helping you try to 'reverse and return to an old version of the cm client', we can instead help you figure out what the solutions might be for the issues which are prompting you to feel you need to uninstall/reinstall the client to an older version.,

Firs of all thanks for answer.

We have 2012R2 and 2008 servers. We are not sure if they like the new client.. I have issues in past with XP clients for example... I don't know if this version maybe have issues with these versions.

Server 2012 R2 is still supported as a client, so you will not have any issues with that.

Server 2008; that is no longer listed as supported, but whether or not it will still "work", I cannot say. You will simply need to see if there are any issues with it. As you know, Server 2008 went out of support in 2020 (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/windows-server-eos-faq/end-of-support-windows-server-2008-2008r2) so I suspect that even if you were to contact Microsoft with a concern, you would not get much traction.

Do you have extended / special support for that 4-years-out-of-support version of the Server OS? If so, open a case with Microsoft. Either for doing the 'turn this off in CM' question you have, or to confirm whether or not you can get support for 2008 server under your extended support contract.

Server 2012 is already End of Life and therefore it might not work because of that reason. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/announcements/windows-server-2012-r2-end-of-support

Morning,

We have ESU for 4 years.

Then I should open a case to Microsoft... Today I test in 2012 and works fine... But... Maybe I want to know if we can do something to revert this promote.
