Windows Server 2025 Compatibility with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint

A Server 2025 virtual machine was installed and onboarded to Defender for Endpoint. However, it seems to be unsupported as it appears in the inventory but cannot be filtered specifically for Server 2025; it shows as Windows Server SAC. Additionally, several information tabs are absent.

Anyone knows when this will be supported?

same here, no Inventory, HealthState, Vulnerabilities, Missing KBs etc. applying endpoint policies via Intune also not working --> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/protect/mde-security-integration release of new product without possiblity to apply proper security... what a joke --> https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2024/05/03/prioritizing-security-above-all-else/

Today my server starts showing as an windows Server 2025 in MDE and not Windows server SAC, so a little progress....

Still missing information in Security Rekommandation, Inventories etc..

Confirm that I also see inventory and security recommendations, but I still do not get valid Defender health status:

Have you ran MDEClientAnalyzer on the server to check the sensor status and all other components?
For me, I have onboarded a new 2025 server and it gives sensor health state as "Active" now, but I will check the status of all MDE components with MDEClientAnalyzer.

As of now, there hasn't been an official announcement regarding full support for Windows Server 2025 in Defender for Endpoint.

This is likely why you're seeing it listed as Windows Server SAC and missing some information tabs.

Microsoft typically updates their support documentation and product capabilities over time, especially with new server releases.

Its a full month later and there is still no update or support for Server 2025 in Defender for endpoint, really weird that they release a product that does not work with their own products especially the security products since Server 2025 is released as a more secure Windows Server....

I have created yesterday a ticket in the Microsoft Admin Center.

This is the answer:
Resolution: The 2025 server is still in a preview state, and we have not received any updates on it yet. It may be updated in the future. MDE does not have any specific documentation on it, so it will take some time to update.

The security endpoint team thinks Windows Server 2025 is still in preview.

See comments above. It is shown now with "Windows Server 2025" instead of "SAC", Inventory, Recommendations,... is working, too. But the health status is still "unknown" in our environment...

also MDEClientAnalyzer tells me:

hope there is a solution soon...

We got information from Microsoft via our ticket that the issue should be solved this week around Wednesday. Let's see if we can start with our rollout finally...
