Way to build dotnet core to a .so on linux and a .dylib on MAC?

On linux and Mac a .NET Core app builds to a dll, as there is no c++/cli on these platforms is there a way to get the program to build to a .so or .dylib respectively instead? I know about coreRT but I don't know if that is ready for this yet.
