My HP 2000 laptop failed for mechanical issues so the hard drive was moved to another HP 2000. No I get a message stating that unless I activate my Microsoft Office (which I own a legal copy) my Office will shut down in 2 days. What do I do? Please advise! Thank you

    Hi @Jim Schmidt

Could you please tell us which version of Office are you have?

Is your Office a pre-installed OEM version, or did you purchase it yourself later?

    • As far as I know, OEM version of Office licenses cannot be migrated to other devices.
    • If you purchased Office separately, the Office can be transferred to other devices. It is recommended that you go to the "My Microsoft Account" page to see if this Office is listed as "Products you've purchased".

Then you can uninstall Office, and reinstall it from the webpage above.

If you still cannot activate Office, I suggest you contact Microsoft Support via phone or online chat for further assistance.
