I am literally having the same problem. I can "connect" and it looks like the machine is loading then I get a pop up saying if this keeps happening to contact my network admin... My error states that the PW is probably expiring soon. I've tried the built in Remote Desktop access and installed XRDP and neither work, both throw the same error. There is no issue when attempting to RDP into a Windows machine.
Unable to open Linux in remote server using Remote desktop connection
Hi Team Microsoft,
I have installed Ubuntu, Kali Linux, and Fedora WSL on my local machine and want to get full access to Linux using 'Remote Desktop Connection'. I have assigned three different ports to all three Linux OS and also installed xrdp on all three WSL but when I entered my login credentials to access Linux remotely in 'Remote Desktop Connection', I could not get access to Linux machine. Neither do I see any error message when I try to access Kali Linux and Ubuntu Linux; however, I do see an error message when I try to access Fedora Linux. I tried everything but could not access the Linux machine remotely.

2024-12-29T05:27:38+00:00 I figured it out, you need a SEPARATE user for remote login... otherwise it won't allow two connections for the same user. I assume you are trying to connect to a VM or something.

2024-12-30T12:54:03+00:00 hi Nick,
Merry Christmas and Happy new year. I use same user credentials for Kali Linux WSL and Fedora Linux WSL, however I used different user credentials for Ubuntu Linux machine. So according to your logic, Ubuntu should have worked and I would have accessed of Linux in Remote Desktop. However none of them are working, neither does they show any error messages. I just want to have access of either Fedora Linux or Ubuntu Linux via remote desktop connection. Initially when I was doing all these experiments Kali Linux worked perfectly well but one of my friends suggested me to switch to either Fedora or Ubuntu, since Kali Linux is designer for hackers so I decided to install Fedora WSL and Ubuntu WSL in my machine, and from thereon everything messed up, now I can not access any of the Linux remotely. I only had access of Kali Linux in the beginning but when I also tried to start Ubuntu Linux and Fedora Linux, I also lost Kali Linux connection in Remote desktop connection.
Could you please share me all the steps you followed to restore Linux in your remote desktop connection.

2024-12-30T18:37:33+00:00 Ahh, sure. So you will want to stop the services for XRDP.
In the SYSTEM settings of your LINUX desktop app you will find that there is REMOTE access built into the OS.
Desktop Sharing has worked for me, this requires the device to ALREADY be logged in.
Not sure why I can't get REMOTE LOGIN to work. Here are my settings.
