Need Help Restoring SSO After Switching Domain from Federated to Managed

Hello,

I have a domain with GoDaddy, and my users authenticate with Microsoft 365 using GoDaddy’s SSO.

Until now, the login process worked as follows:

  1. I would enter my username in the Microsoft 365 login page.
  2. The browser would redirect me to GoDaddy’s authentication page.
  3. I would enter my credentials, complete the login, and get redirected back to Microsoft 365, fully signed in.

Earlier today, I ran a PowerShell command that accidentally changed my domain from Federated to Managed using the following command:

Set-MsolDomainAuthentication -DomainName mydomain.com -Authentication Managed

As a result, SSO was disabled, and the redirect to GoDaddy’s authentication page no longer works, preventing me from logging into my emails and Microsoft 365 services.

I contacted GoDaddy support, and they advised me to revert the domain back to Federated and reach out to Azure support.

I attempted to switch it back, but I keep encountering errors.

Has anyone encountered this issue before? What steps should I take to successfully restore SSO and Federation?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

    What are the errors?

When you make a change like this, you may need to wait 72 hours before you can set it back.

    Hi Vova Malivan,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Q&A.

In addition to the answer provided by @Andy David - MVP , I would like to add my points to your query. We see that your SSO with GoDaddy has been broken and not redirected to GoDaddy for authentication.

If you would like to continue with Microsoft Azure managed domain, you can follow this document to complete the managed domain process.

If you would like to go back with GoDaddy Federation, please make sure to wait for 72 hours after the conversion of domain from managed to federate to revert back to federated domain. Also, if you would like to convert to federated, you can follow this document from Microsoft.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
