Generally, when the indentation changes on numbering restart, the underlying list format hasn't been properly set up. The easiest approach to restarting para numbering in Word is to set it up in a multilevel list with two levels, so that level 1 can restart level 2. Word 365 Multilevel problem
How do I correct a multilevel list. When using the "Start at Number" to reset the numbering to "1", the indent for that style changes.
