How to embed an Excel file stored in OneDrive and be able to view, edit and save changes?

I need to use a URL that is embeded in a Web-based application, but it doesn't work properly. I can open the Excel file, even I can type in the file, but if I make any changes in the Excel file, those changes do not save in the original file stored in onedrive. What's the point to type in the Excel if I cannot save the changes?

This is what is needed:

  • Embed an URL from an Excel spreadsheet stored in OneDrive.
  • Open the file using the web-based interface.
  • When the file is open, be able to edit the Excel file, and automatically save any changes in the Excel file stored in OneDrive.

I would really appreciate any help in this matter.

Thank you.

Enrique

    Hi @EMS - QP

    Are you using personal OneDrive?

Microsoft made changes to the OneDrive sharing link and embedding mechanism. Microsoft has simplified URLs, which may break older embedding methods that rely on these parameters.

At current time, in the embedded URL, the previous "onedrive.live.com" was changed to "1drv.ms", the"resid"(The identifier for the file.) and "authkey"(A key used to authenticate the file’s access) information was removed.

There are indeed similar issues on Q&A forum and other community. Such as this thread: Embedding part of Excel file from Onedrive in iframe stopped working.

I suggest you post a feedback thread in: https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/forum/e3f04660-2c1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472

Microsoft will listen to users' feedback and consider them for additional feature/future versions of Microsoft products. Your feedback helps Microsoft developers know which features are most important to you.

    Thanks for your understanding.
