Traffic Forwarding from one VM to another VM in Azure

Hello,

I am looking for a solution to forward traffic from a web VM to an app VM. Specifically, when a user tries to access the web VM on port 6545, the traffic should be routed through the web VM to the app VM on port 6767.

Can this be achieved in Azure using services such as Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, Load Balancer, or any other service

Traffic forwarding from you Web VM to an App VM in Azure can be achieved. If your traffic is HTTP(S) then use Application Gateway. If you need port forwarding for non-HTTP(S) protocols, then use Azure Load Balancer or Azure Firewall DNAT.

If you want a lightweight VM-based forwarding, then use iptables on a Linux Web VM.

The Standard Load Balancer can be configured to forward traffic from port 6545 on the Web VM to port 6767 on the App VM.

How?

Create a load balancer and assign it a public IP. Add your Web VM and App VM to the LB's backend pool. Define the Load Balancing rules with frontend port as 6545 and backend port as 6767. Update NSG Rules to allow traffic on ports 6545 (Web VM) and 6767 (App VM).
