Is there any error message when Word shuts down?

Please check which version of Office you are using now.

In addition to Viorel's suggestion that perform an online repair for Office apps, I suggest you open Word in safe mode：

Press Win + R, type "winword /safe" in the Run dialog box, press Enter. If you can open some documents in Word of safe mode, please check the COM add-ins.

• Open Word app > click File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-ins, click Go
• Clear the check boxes for any enabled COM add-ins, select OK.
