Hey everyone,
I am trying to set my domains on a Static Web App, but it's been around 3 weeks that I'm trying to set my CNAME and TXT, but it fails, and I get "Validation failed" Status following this error: "An unknown error has occurred while adding your custom domain. Please try again later."
I have checked my CNAME and TXT and they are both visible publicly. Also, I have no issue with my other domains but this one is not gonna get validated.
I would appreciate any information or sharing experience to help me with this issue.

I'm trying to set the root URL of my domain (e.g. mydomain.com and www.mydomain.com) @ and TXT for the root (mudomain.com) and www and CNAME for the (www.mydomain.com). It used to be part of Google domains but it's been moved to squarespace.com. I have another domain also with the same history (moved from google domains to squarespace) and I have no issue setting these domains on Azure, but this one, I have no idea why it just fails and gives me that error message.

Hi @Amin Mahmoodian , let's start with non-root custom domain. If this can be successfully verified, we can add root custom domain later.
Follow the steps from this guide: Custom domains with Azure Static Web Apps
Check if you have a CAA record on your DNS provider (squarespace.com). If you do, allow digicert to issue certificate by adding CAA record for root/apex domain with this value:
yourdomain.com CAA 0 issue "digicert.com"
Hello @Silvia Wibowo , the fact is when I start with the CNAME and www, Azure throws this error message right away:
Could not add custom domain. CNAME Record is invalid. Please ensure the CNAME record has been created.
although the CNAME is publicly available and also has been added to the DNS.
If I start with the root (@) and try to add TXT, the validation goes forever (I waited a week and nothing has happened, which is not normal as I could set my other domains without any issue).
I've added the CAA and, did set the TXT for root on my DNS and will wait for Azure to see if it can get validated this time.

After the last comment (Jan 21st), I have removed all the configurations on both my DNS and Azure web service, I added the CAA, added a new generated TXT and confirmed that it is publicly visible using several DNS checking tools like mxtoolbox, then I waited till today and finally the validation spinner on the Azure stopped and Failed again.
The support of squarespace.com also unfortunately couldn't be helpful much. And the fact that the CNAMEs or TXTs added to the DNS are actually visible publicly, made them think that the issue comes from the Azure side.
I actually have no idea what else I should do. Is this the Azure issue, or the DNS provider's issue?
I would appreciate any help and ideas.

Hi @Amin Mahmoodian , did you use non-root custom domain? Please note that root/apex custom domain needs different steps from non-root.
Would you consider to delegate your domain to Azure DNS?

Since the last comment, I tried different DNS services, and all of them propagated the TXT and CNAME of the domain, without any problems, yet Azure won't validate them.
The funny part is I have another Static Web Apps service on Azure with another domain name (and it works without any issues) and when I switched the domains, again the other domain on this Static Web App got validated almost instantly, but the main domain couldn't get validated on the other Web App. So now I am totally confused about why it cannot validate the first domain name. Both domains are from squarespace.com
Any idea, experience, help, suggestion, ...? :)

I'm glad that you were able to resolve your issue and thank you for posting your solution so that others experiencing the same thing can easily reference this!
