how to configure RDP + MFA on an azure virtual machine

I am hoping someone can help me. I am looking for information on how get MFA working with RDP on azure virtual machines. I can't seem how to get this done or find consistent information. we currently with Microsoft authenticator app for the azure portal. we are required to have MFA set on server when using RDP.

For setup MFA with remote desktop on your Azure VMs, install the network policy server extension to link MFA with azure active Directory, set up conditional access rules to require MFA for logging into Windows VMs, and configure a remote desktop gateway to make MFA
