Issues with Application Insights Not Ingesting Traces and Events into Log Analytics

Experiencing problems with Application Insights and Log Analytics workspace resources. Traces, requests, and custom events have suddenly stopped ingesting into the Log Analytics workspace, while metrics continue to display correctly.

An interesting detail is that traces and requests are visible in the "Live metrics" pane, but they are not being propagated to the Log Analytics workspace.

  • Log Analytics workspace tier: pay-as-you-go
  • Log Analytics workspace ingestion volume for the last 24 hours: 0.36GB

Any advice on how to resolve this issue?

    Hi @Artyom Gilevich

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A Platform! Thank you for asking your question here.

Even though the metrics are still visible. This is usually about configuration or setting. First, configure your Application Insights correctly to have data flow to the appropriate Log Analytics workspace under Diagnostic settings. Also, ensure that traces, requests, and custom events are enabled for archiving in the Log Analytics workspace under Advanced Settings in Data.

Check that there are no problems with data capture. In Application Insights, review the Diagnostic logs for errors or timeouts that may prevent data from being transmitted properly. Additionally, ensure that your queries in Log Analytics are set up correctly and that data is not expired due to storage policies.

If everything looks fine but the problem persists, you may want to restart the Application Insights object or reinstall the monitoring agent to update the connection. Also, since you’re using a pay-as-you-go system, it’s worth checking if you’re hitting any intake limits in your Log Analytics workspace.
