keyboard is not working when I use R to run a long-time procedure.

Question

When I use my brand new surface laptop (7th edition) to run a long-time procedure with R, the keyboard often will often stop working. I could use on-screen keyboard, but it is not as good as keyboard. So, the only solution for me now is to restart the computer which would lose my data.
