How can I resolve Windows 11 Azure Virtual Desktop host pool performance issues with redirect cameras enabled under RDP settings that we are not seeing with Windows10?

We are running into performance issues in Windows 11 Azure Virtual Desktop host pool with redirect cameras enabled under RDP settings.

We have the exact same setup with Windows 10 and do not see the performance issues with redirect cameras enabled.

Is there a new installation that would help resolve this for Windows 11?

Does Remote Desktop WebRTC Redirector Service come into play at all here? I've tried the latest version and the version running on our Windows 10 host pool and see no improvement.

    Hi Rob Wilkinson,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A platform.

Based on your question we understand that you are facing an issue with the Azure Virtual Desktop host pool performance while redirect cameras.

Please check the RDP properties for the host pool are correctly configured to handle camera redirection. You can check these settings using Group Policy.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/redirection-configure-camera-webcam-video-capture?tabs=group-policy&pivots=azure-virtual-desktop#configure-video-capture-redirection-using-microsoft-intune-or-group-policy

Check for any Group Policy settings or registry configurations that different between Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Check that your session hosts have enough free CPU and memory space. if you have a high number of users, consider upgrading your VM.

Check that all software and Azure Virtual Desktop agent and the Remote Desktop client, is up to date.

You can configure the quality and encoding settings for camera redirection to balance performance and quality. Lowering the video quality will reduce the load on the session hosts.

Please close the unwanted applications while using redirected cameras.

I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.
