ExpressRoute Local SKU Availability

Hi, Central US region is not listed under 'Local' Azure region list: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/expressroute/expressroute-locations-providers?tabs=america%2Ct-z%2Ca-k#global-commercial-azure, how will the Central US region accessible via Local SKUs and not pay the egress data transfer?

Local Azure Regions refers to the regions that can be accessed by ExpressRoute Local at each peering location. ✗ indicates that ExpressRoute Local isn't available at that peering location.

• The Central US region may not have nearby peering locations that support the Local SKU. ExpressRoute Local is typically available in metropolitan areas where there are one or two Azure regions close enough to justify local connectivity.
• If there are no Azure regions within a reasonable distance from the peering location in the Central US, the Local SKU cannot be offered. This is likely the case for the Central US region, which may not have the necessary infrastructure to support Local connectivity.

NOTE: While the Local SKU may not be available, organizations can still utilize Standard or Premium SKUs for broader access to Azure regions. These SKUs allow for connectivity across multiple regions, albeit with egress data transfer charges.

If your connectivity provider isn't listed in previous sections, you can still create a connection.

Check with your connectivity provider to see if they're connected to any of the exchanges in the table. You can check the following links to gather more information about services offered by exchange providers. Several connectivity providers are already connected to Ethernet exchanges.

Have your connectivity provider extend your network to the peering location of choice.

• Ensure that your connectivity provider extends your connectivity in a highly available manner so that there are no single points of failure.
• Order an ExpressRoute circuit with the exchange as your connectivity provider to connect to Microsoft.
• Follow steps in Create an ExpressRoute circuit to set up connectivity.
