Is there a method to assess an existing Azure VM ( West Europe) similar to how we are doing for on-prem VM in Azure Migrate tool

    Hi @Mahavir Saroj ,

Got you now, Thanks for your patience. Please find the below steps.

It doesn't, matter where is your work loads are the process will be the same.

To complete this lab, you will need two virtual machines: one to act as the source VM for migration and another to serve as the appliance server, where the Azure Migrate appliance will be installed and used for discovery.

    1. Create an Azure migrate project
    2. Click on Discovery shown below.

    3. Select the type of workload:
      • For standard VMs, choose the Physical Server option.
      • If you are working with specific workloads, select the appropriate option.
Perform this step on the newly created appliance server. Download the appliance and save the project key, as it will be required later during the migration process.
User's image After completing the discovery process, the discovered machines will be displayed. In the same tab, you'll find the Create Assessment option. Use it to create a group, and the assessment will be generated accordingly.

Note: The document will apply equally to both on-premises server discovery and assessment as well as Azure VM discovery and assessment.

Not directly, but you have a few other options:

    1. Azure Advisor
    • Azure Advisor provides tailored recommendations to optimize Azure resources, including VMs.
    • It includes cost optimization, performance, security, and high availability recommendations.
    • Access this in the Azure Portal under Advisor to get insights on the VM configurations.
    1. Azure Monitor with VM Insights
    • Azure Monitor's VM Insights can help analyze the performance and dependencies of existing Azure VMs.
