Question

We want to remove and retire an old DP server but failed. Get below when I click Delete from the menu on the old DP server:

The server "\DPServerName" cannot be deleted because it contains the following site system roles:

Component server

The component server role supports other site system roles and is created automatically by Configuration Manager. Although there might be a delay, this role is automatically removed after you remove other site system roles on this server.

Do you know the solution? Thanks in advance!

Hope everything is going well.

1,Mostly, we need to wait for some time so that the role can be removed. It could be from 6 to 12 hours. If this is still an issue, then we really need to troubleshoot this.

2,Similar threads for your reference. One thing needs to confirm: removed all the roles apart from Component Server and Site System, then restart the SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER service.
