Can't install Azure recovery extension on Ubuntu 22.04 kernel 6.8.0

Hi supporters,

We've upgraded OS of Azure Linux VMs to Ubuntu 22.04 with kernel 6.8.0

When I was checking extension of VMs in Azure portal, I saw that issue sayung "SuteRecovery-LinuxUBUNTU2204 provision failed

And so It made replications items for VM were failed.

Could you help to check the issue?

The first thing I suggest is to check the logs of your VM inside the var log azure folder. These logs can provide more specific error information and help identify trends. If you find expansion errors, that will give us a better idea of the next step.

If the logs don’t show anything obvious, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the extension via the Azure portal or CLI. Sometimes a new installation can solve problems that occur during the initial setup. Also, be sure to use the latest version of the Sute Recovery extension, as older versions may not support Ubuntu 22.04 at all. If the problem persists, you may want to check if your VM has enough resources (such as disk space, memory, or CPU) for the expansion to work properly.

Based on this article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/site-recovery/azure-to-azure-support-matrix, It looks like the ubuntu 22.04 with kernel 6.8.0 has not been supported to install Azure recovery extension.
Do we have other way to install Azure recovery extension for Azure VM ubuntu 22.04 kernel 6.8.0-1015-azure?

You're right that Ubuntu 22.04 with kernel 6.8.0 isn't currently supported by the Azure Site Recovery extension, which is likely why you're seeing this issue. One thing you can try is checking if there’s a newer version of the Azure Site Recovery extension available, as newer versions may add support for the kernel version you're using. You can update the extension through the Azure portal or Azure CLI. If the extension isn't installing automatically, you could also try installing it manually on your VM.
Microsoft provides a guide on how to do this in the official documentation. Another option is to consider downgrading your kernel to a version that is supported by Azure Site Recovery. You can check the Azure Site Recovery support matrix for the supported kernel versions. I've tried reinstalled azure recovery extension by using Azure portal/AZ CLI, but it couldn't be installed.

I beleive we would have to downgrade the kernel

Thank you for the update. If you have already tried reinstalling the Azure Site Recovery extension through the Azure portal and Azure CLI, and it still couldn't be installed, then it's likely that the extension is not currently compatible with Ubuntu 22.04 with kernel 6.8.0.
