Our computer a Auto-pilot provisioned by Dell. Logging in to the OOBE as an organization user works fine for Intune/MDM enrollment. However when attempting to pre-provision with no user login, I constantly run into "We couldn't finish MDM enrollment. Error: 0x80180005". I've tried with at least 5 different PC's on internal and external networks and get the same result.

Steps taken:

  • connect to external network
  • Reset PC
  • Remove from Auto-pilot assignments and re-add

Same result after each.

@Dejiovanni, Thanks for posting in Q&A. For Autopilot pre-provisioning, it needs user logging. Here is a link with more details:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/autopilot/pre-provision

From your description, it seems you want no user login during the Autopilot enrollment for this device. Sounds like these are shared devices. If so, you need to change to assign Autopilot self-deploying mode profile instead of Autopilot pre-provisioning to this device.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/autopilot/self-deploying

Please ask your Dell support to change the Autopilot enrollment profile to self-deploying mode for these devices.

Hope the above information can help.

Hi... Well looking at the error code... and what crystal from msft is mentioning. its indeed the option to use prepro/self deploying missing in your autopilot profile.. for more information about this , please read this blog
