Using Clarity custom events with UET tag (no window.clarity object available).

Hi,

We currently have a UET tag running on our website via our Microsoft Ads account - the Microsoft Clarity integration is enabled for it.

How do we (can we?) record Clarity events through the UET tag with this integration?

There's no window.clarity method we can call with this implementation. I've read the docs below that doesn't seem to offer anything.

Feeling a bit disappointed in Clarity here. I've tried emailing the support email address, a separate forum to this one (I was told to try here).

I don't believe this is a question that's out of the ordinary?

You will record Clarity events through Clarity using the window.clarity("event", "eventName") call mentioned in that documentation you linked. You have reached out via email, as you mentioned, and when we looked at the website you shared there, we saw that window.clarity exists on your site. What's the reason you don't think that you have it?
Is it a specific page where it doesn't exist, perhaps?

Any page that has Clarity integrated will have the window.clarity set up.

I'm using Brave browser (shields down). Could you try Brave or Chrome browsers?

I'm not getting an error in Edge if that helps.

I'm struggling to see how this can't be replicated? I even had someone on X suggest replacing window.clarity("event", "eventName") with window.clarity("event", "eventName") ... which is the exact same code?!

I like Clarity as a tool, but right now I'd be willing to go elsewhere and pay because at least then I wouldn't be fed the same responses every time! 😢

I think the issue as you pointed out, is the Brave Browser. I believe they block Clarity (yes, even when the shield is down), we will look further into the details of this in the meantime.

When you use Chrome or Edge, you will see window.clarity (screenshot from Chrome at the bottom). Another way for you to know if Clarity is on your page is to look at your network tab, and see if there are any calls being made to clarity.ms/collect. Google Analytics also does /collect calls, for example, so you can confirm it's for Clarity by putting that in the filter or looking at the request URL .

If Clarity is on the page then window.clarity will also be on the page. If Clarity was blocked for some reason, like in Brave, or with ad blockers, or if cookies weren't accepted etc, then it won't be on the page, the collect calls won't go through, and you also won't be able to make any API calls.

The documentation you shared is the correct way to send Clarity any events you have, by calling window.clarity("event", "eventName")When we go to the website that was shared with us via email, we can confirm that you have the window.clarity object set, screenshot below. I realize we already said this in the response email. Could you share the context in which you don't have access to window.clarity? Is it perhaps on a specific page where you're not seeing it? Any page that has Clarity will have window.clarity available.
