Windows Server 2022 LTSC Licenses

Question

Hi,

What are the requirements to buy WS2022 LTSC license. We are buying 14 x WS2022 LTSC & 6 x W10 LTSC licenses from a supplier, but supplier mentioned that licenses will be registered in their name as they will issue a PO to MS. In order to get licenses registered in the name of end user a PO from end user to MS will be required. Does the licensing really work that way? Are these licenses transferrable at a later stage from supplier name to end user's name? Thanks.

To purchase Windows Server 2022 LTSC licenses, you can work with a Microsoft account team or a qualified partner. The supplier's claim that the licenses will be registered in their name is not accurate. Licenses are transferrable, and a PO from the end user to Microsoft is not required for registration in the end user's name. Request that licenses be registered directly to your organization’s name and maintain control over your Volume Licensing account.

If there are any doubts or if this seems contrary to standard practices, consider contacting Microsoft directly for confirmation or seek a second opinion from a different authorized reseller.

It would be advisable to review the Volume Licensing terms and consult directly with Microsoft or a trusted legal advisor for your specific licensing questions and to ensure compliance with Microsoft’s licensing policies.
