Any "save as" explorer addons for fluid saving to the file system?

Emacs has various ivy-type functions that build a cache and allow a mini-UI interaction when picking from a list. For example, when saving a file, the list is populated in real time as the user types each character, and the matching is happening throughout the entire target, not just as a prefix.

Is there any add on or replacement for Windows Explorer that provides this function? I save a lot of stuff all over my documents tree. When a "save as" window pops up, I would like to be able to stay on the keyboard to deposit the file three levels down in the file system, but I am stuck combining the keyboard and mouse to change focus and make selections. If I try to just use the keyboard, I almost always end up selecting the wrong folder by first letter and/or ending up with the file name to use for the save being picked up from an existing file and not the name of the new file.

Or maybe I am just missing a big hunk of Windows functionality just below the surface. I have tried googling for "save as" tools, but I never found anything related to what I want.

PS The set of available tags in this interface is pretty pathetic.
