Hi All,

What is the best method to configure a policy that applies to all users in the tenant and ensures that all documents have the same font style by default for all M365 apps and user-generated content?

Thank you.

    Hello EnterpriseArchitect

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

You would like to know best method to configure a policy that applies to all users in the tenant and ensures that all documents have the same font style by default for all M365 apps and user-generated content.

To ensure a consistent font style for all M365 apps and user-generated content, you can leverage Office 365 or Microsoft 365 Apps settings. Here are some best practices you might follow:

    1. Microsoft 365 Apps Settings: Explore options for default font settings. Some versions may allow you to set a default font for all Office applications. For a Windows based environment, Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center (https://admin.microsoft.com/).

Navigate to "Settings" or "Setup" (exact wording may vary depending on updates).

Look for the configuration options related to Office applications or Microsoft 365 Apps.

    1. Group Policy or SCCM: If your organization uses Windows-based systems, you can use Group Policy to enforce settings across Office applications.
      1. Navigate to the Group Policy Management Console.
        1. Locate the Office settings under "User Configuration" > "Policies" > "Administrative Templates" > "Microsoft Office XXXX" (where XXXX is the version of Office).
          1. Look for settings related to default font styles.
    2. PowerShell Scripts: PowerShell scripts can be used to configure various settings, and you can run these scripts as part of your user login or startup process.
      1. Craft a PowerShell script that sets the default font style for Office applications.
        1. Deploy the script using a method appropriate for your organization (e.g., Group Policy, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager).
    3. Office 365 ProPlus Configuration XML: If you deploy Office 365 ProPlus using the Office Deployment Tool, you can use a configuration XML file to define settings. Include the default font settings in the XML file and use it during the deployment or update process.
    4. Intune: Many organizations used this for easy management and security. If your organization uses Microsoft Intune for device management, check the available configuration profiles. Intune have specific settings to configure Office applications, including default font styles.

I hope this is helpful! Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions.

I think the only option right now for both Word and PowerPoint is to do it via replacing the Normal.dotm and Default Theme.potx on every device in the tenant. Use Intune and a Powershell script to deploy it tenant wide.

I have just tried this on a POC group, will return with conclusions.
