I've been struggling to set a custom notification sound for incoming emails on Outlook for Android in the "Work" profile managed by Intune.
I've placed the audio file under "Internal Storage/Notifications" using the file manager under the work profile. In the Outlook app I'm navigating to "Top-left profile icon -> Bottom-left gear icon -> Notifications -> New email sound -> Sound". From this menu I'm able to access all default notification sounds on my device (Samsung Galaxy A23) and set them as the incoming email notification sound. The custom sound I'm trying to select is visible in this menu, but when I try to select it I'm presented with the message "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file."
I've already tried mp3, ogg and wav formats, but have had no success.

@Andrew Kroeger, Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based on my researching, for the custom notification sound format on Outlook for Android, it can be an audio file that is in one of the following formats: MP3, WAV, or OGG. But from your description, I notice we already tried these format.
For this issue, I notice the affected device is Samsung Galaxy. Could you check on other Android device to see if the same issue exists? And if we set the custom notification sound on Outlook on a device which is not enrolled into Intune, will we have the same issue?

Outlook notifications can be edited in outlook even for workprofile

Hi team,
I am facing the same problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phone.
I can't select the default outlook notification tone. The incoming email tone is the same as my phone's notification tone. I want the incoming outlook email tone to be the original outlook tone.
when i go to select tone then all I see are the tone provided by samsung and not the original outlook tone. I have not enrolled my phone in work profile yet
When I select sent email sound then I see the three original sounds by microsoft- Outlook Calendar, Outlook Email and outlook email sent. However, when selecting the option new email sounds under notification I can just see the sounds provided by samsung and not microsoft. I think this is a bug in the app. Please fix it or provide me a solution as to how fix it at my end.

Same here, Samsung Galaxy S24. No way to get custom notification working under the work profile, all attempts lead to "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file." It works on my backup device, a Nokia X30 5G.

Work profile outlook does not even show the mp3's in nternal Storage/Notifications folder

Did you find the answer? I am really missing my standard Outlook meeting notification sound but I can only select from the standard Android selection with no Outlook sounds. You are right, for some reason if you select a sound for "sent emails" the menu it's completely different and includes the Outlook sounds. Where on earth are they saved? I could at least make copies and put them in an accessible folder and select them manually perhaps. I found a workaround. I think when I changed the default system wide sounds it overrode the apps default sound and from Googling it seems to be a symptom from copying the app from an old phone to a new one rather than a fresh install. I reinstalled Outlook and this restored the "App provided sounds".

I encountered the same issue. On work profile on my Galaxy A25 I cannot set any custom notification sound. I get the same "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file."
