I am trying to install a PPKG from a network folder during OOBE or copying it locally to device without having use a USB media. I am in the window where you have to select keyboard layout. I hit Shift + F10 to bring a cmd prompt. I map a drive to a local server to copy over all the PPKG files to a local folder, then i execute ppgk name. A window pops up saying do you want to apply PPGK, I select YES, then the systems says it will reboot in 1 minute. After the reboot, it comes back to the same KB layout selection screen. If I insert the USB media, it applies the package without issues and brings me to a logon screen. Can you not install a PPGK during OOBE locally?

Anyone been able to successfully install a PPKG from a network or local folder during OOBE, if so please share your experience. It is frustrating that the USB media works but not when I try to run it locally.

    Hello there,

    Have you checked the log?

You can use the PowerShell cmdlet Install-ProvisioningPackage with -LogsDirectoryPath to get logs for the operation.

I suppose it is not possible to provide the package.

You can use Windows Configuration Designer to create a provisioning package (.ppkg) that contains customization settings, and then apply the provisioning package to a device running Windows client.

Hope this resolves your Query !!

We never found a solution, no. We just apply provisioning packages during OSD via DISM.
