How To: Get the search result for the new column name when the crawling is done on the old column name

Crawling works on column's internal name. so if you modify the column name then in the search result you might not get the result for your changed column name.

Resolution

Get the column's internal name by going list settings -> column -> right click -> properties -> In the URL at the end column name is written.
In SSP -> Search settings-> Metadata property mappings -> New Managed Property -> Provide a new column name in Property name and in add mapping -> provide the internal name here
