How to get answers to technical Microsoft related questions on topics like Vista Service Pack 1 - TechNet Forums

OK so I'm sad but in my head right now I've got the line "If you've got a problem and no one else can help, you need...... the TechNet Forums" followed by "DaaDaa Dar Dede Dede Der" - yes I was a fan of the A-Team!

Joking aside though the TechNet Forums are a free online resource that provide a speedy way for you to get answers to technical questions. Jeff wrote about them towards the end of last year (just a couple of months ago as I write this) and he pointed out that a relatively small percentage of IT Pros know about the Forums.

All you need is a Windows Live ID, then browse to the TechNet Forums site, register the first time you use it (for free) and you're good to go.

You can enter questions and view both the questions and answers of others based on broad topic areas like "Windows Vista Service Pack 1", System Center, SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 - you can even share your own experience by answering other people's questions.

Microsoft employees monitor the forums together with leading IT Professionals including those rewarded with Most Valuable Professonal status. You'll get speedy answers from experts.

TechNet forums are good sources of information. When I can, I participate - but I find them very slow and unavailable offline. WHY can't we have these integrated with the public newsgroups? I know Community Server can do this, why can't Microsoft?
