How do people cope with Stupid phones?

I've been spoilt by having a "Smartphone" until recently when I lost it. I've been struggling with a regular phone for the last week or so. It's a nightmare. I can't view my diary, contacts (though I could sync them by hand), no Internet access and I can't even view/send email!

Something even more wierd is that I've visited many mobile phone shops to see what they have in stock in the form for Microsoft Windows (Mobile 5) powered smartphones but found very little of interest - just large PDA style devices. I took the plunge today and bought a HTC S620 which is awesome though I couldn't get it on a contract so had to buy it outright - not a pleasant experience for my bank account - the damage was £300 after haggling.

Just because one charge of my "stupid" phone gives me five days. And i don't know anything about hang-ups, memory leaks, few-seconds waits and so on. (My pocket-pc is Windows CE 2.1 based Philips Nino 210 and I like it.)

VladislavA> Good point about battery life. Recent devices running Mobile 5 have reasonable battery lives of around two days of general use - this is much better than before but certainly less than 1/2 that of basic phones.
