Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book is just hours away

I'm excited. The new book's going to be released in a couple of hours time. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" has a lot to live up to. Like so many of you I'll be picking up my copy at midnight. There's a party at the nearby book shop - they even have a live band.

I remember seeing people reading Harry Potter books in the most unlikely places following prior releases - I'm sure I'll see many grown up muggles coveting their copies on trains boats and planes this time too.

If you are a J K Rowling fan then Enjoy. If not then it's not worth trying to understand the enthusiasm of those with their heads burried in books telling of wizard folk :-)

    Faith> I've really enjoyed reading the Harry Potter books but I wouldn't dream of spoiling them for other people. I did go to the midnight launch though I haven't had time to read much so far.

    Humph> You made me laugh out loud as I saw many other people reading a ripped electronic copy in the delusion that they had something useful for nothing! I guess this comment rubs salt in your wounds & that's not my intent. I gather that you can pick up a pukka copy for a five in Tescos.

    I do not understand the hype about Harry Potter. I have never ever read a Harry Potter book....and I am PROUD!Are you going to be one of those fans who camps outside the book store to get the book before everyone else, then takes a whole day off work to read the book, then posts what happens at the end of the book on your blog!

    Am I the only person who was tempted to go to the late night opening of a local bookstore and buy a completely unrelated book? :-)

    I'll pick this up but not right away. A local book store was selling it for CAN$45, which is ridiculous. Why only hardback? Oh I know; money! I noticed today that Amazon is selling it for CAN$22, so I might buy from them or just wait for the paperback. I have a few others I want to finish first. While the HP series is an excellent read, I'm not desparate enough to read it that I'll rush out and buy a copy at midnight or on day one. Like operating systems, software, gaming consoles, games and iPhones, it's over hyped and not something I need to rush or queue for. It's only a book! Nuff said. :)

We have one of your Englishmen working over here in the US, who took great delight in sending the New York Times review to everyone he knew would was waiting for the release of the latest Harry Potter book.
Not only did he send the review, but he managed to obtain a 650 page PDF which he named "Deathly Hallows" and also sent that around stating that it was an advanced copy of the latest book.
Many of us who received this PDF spent hours reading it whilst out children read the book. Bleary eyed, I emerged from the den, to talk with my children about the book, only to find that they were looking at me as though I was stupid and had evidently been reading the wrong book - "Dad was that book printed in English ?"
The Englishman, (who will remain nameless - but is known to you), had taken great delight in knowingly sending out a false copy of the book. 
I believe you would probably call him a GIT ? - we had a few stonger words

If you don't understand the hype-I'm afraid its already too late, but that doesnt mean you can't read and enjoy the books, you just missed the train-but people will be talking about HP for decades. I have already read the 7th book, I cried 6 times. The HP books are like old friends to me, it was hard to say goodbye.(And i hav plenty of friends-most like HP too) I read the first book in early gradeschool, we are the Harry Potter generation, I feel no other future generation would understand how much a part of our lives this book series has become, its meaningful to us. It sort of encompasses our entire childhood. What do you do when something like that ends?

I didn't really go to the night opening of the local bookstore either. But I bought the book. I read it. I reviewed it. And I loved it.
Did you finish it yourself yet?
