Barcle - Finding the lowest price from your Mobile
I don't know about you but whenever I'm looking to buy something I always invest a fair amount of time researching where to buy it from and also how to get the best deal.
That doesn't work well with impulse purchases however.... there may be a solution that could help though.
Ted from Barcle contacted me about their price comparison solution for mobile devices.
You can enter the code for a product that you are holding in a store/shop and it will find the lowest price from over 900 eCommerce partners, 20,000 brands and over 14 MM SKUs. This includes 8 of the top 10 Global eCommerce retailers. Barcle also has the ISBNs from Barnes and Nobles, Amazon Borders and Alibris which they are bringing online.
To give you an example - you walk into Best Buy..wanting to buy an Ipod Touch 8GB, you are holding the MP3 player in your hand, scan/type in the code and Barcle will give you the online prices from the lowest cost retailers. Best Buy now has the option of meeting that price or explaining why you should spend more and you have the option of paying less online or having the information to have Best Buy lower their price ( as per their instore promise). Either way Barcle has just saved you $ 20.00.
You can try it for yourself - go to mobile.barcle.com and enter 885909121472 (The 8GB iPod Touch)
This is an interesting area as we see the growth of QR codes and other price comparison sites.
