Web-based Report Viewer debuts today

A web-based Management Reporter Report Viewer debuted today with a demo by Jill Carter in front of a crowd of more than 400 Dynamics GP partners in Fargo for the Dynamics GP 2013 Technical Airlift.

Management Reporter users will enjoy this new report viewer that will offer many of the features in the desktop viewer today, but with nothing to install.

Here is a preview of some of the key features.

The fresh, modern user interface of the new Management Reporter Report Viewer will mean users can focus on the data in the report. And, reports are both personalized and secured. In the report shown above, the user has access to the Production and Sales nodes in the Management Reporter Reporting Tree, but doesn’t have access to the Administration node.

A new Chart Gallery gives you instant access to key graphical data that has been saved with the report. You can easily browse to review all charts that are available in a full screen mode.

    How is this going to be licensed?  I am looking for a solution that allows access to a single report for many users.  Some clients have many users that need to access the reports, i.e. viewer licenses.  Does this require a Light User license for each person who needs to read a report?  Or does it not require a user license of any kind, i.e. unlimited read capability? Currently sending a report to Excel and emailing the Excel report during generation is a part of FRx.  When migrating to MR 2012 we need an economical solution.  Is this it?

    Web-based access for Management Reporter will require a Viewer license access; the requirements are the same as accessing Management Reporter reports from another application, such as the desktop viewer or Microsoft Excel.

    I had in my Tech Airlift notes that this was coming out in October - did I write the down correctly?  If so, any ideas when?  And (last question) will it be like applying a service pack or will it be a full upgrade type install?
