Sharepoint Lists - Assign numeric value from a text response

Question

I am working in SharePoint Lists. The user will answer a question from a list of choices: Minor, Moderate, Major. I need to assign a numeric value to the response 1 = Minor; 3 = Moderate, 5 = Major. How can this be accomplished? Thanks
