Windows 10 Enterprise subscription license for Azure AD Joined device

Question

Following from this thread:

It looks insane that one needs to activate Win 10 Pro Retail to be able to use Enterprise Subscription Activation

What if:

All machines were purchased with NO OS (hence for MSDM firmware-embedded key), because legal license (OWS) allowed to run local KMS server

So they all are already Enterprise and KMS activated

Now they all going to be wiped and fresh Enterprise install will happen (no local LAN, no AD, no KMS)

How am I supposed to proceed?

From the official article:

Windows 10 Enterprise Subscription Activation (EA or MPSA) requires Windows 10 Pro, version 1703 or later.

Windows 10 Enterprise E3 in CSP requires Windows 10 Pro, version 1607 or later.

Automatic, non-KMS activation requires Windows 10, version 1803 or later, on a device with a firmware-embedded activation key.

Also, it is always recommended to consult a MS licensing specialist if you have any questions of licensing.

Brand new clean installs:

If used Win 10 Enterprise SKU

I can get Win 10 Enterprise to go Subscription Enterprise using the firmware embedded Pro key & login with A5 licensed user (strange, because A5 should give Education)

If used Win 10 Pro Education SKU

I cannot get it to go Subscription when login with the same A5 licensed user, using the same firmware embedded key, no matter how long I wait, I does NOT move to Windows 10 Education, basically it stays on Pro with digital license only

Yet it clearly states that it should happen

 When a licensed user signs in to a device that meets requirements using their Azure AD credentials, the operating system steps up from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Enterprise (or Windows 10 Pro Education to Windows 10 Education) and all the appropriate Windows 10 Enterprise/Education features are unlocked. When a user’s subscription expires or is transferred to another user, the device reverts seamlessly to Windows 10 Pro / Windows 10 Pro Education edition, once current subscription validity expires.

Anybody any idea what that is?
Obviously I see no way to "force" such activation to happen

I even have no idea where to start troubleshooting it
