How do I correct a multilevel list. When using the "Start at Number" to reset the numbering to "1", the indent for that style changes.

Generally, when the indentation changes on numbering restart, the underlying list format hasn't been properly set up. The easiest approach to restarting para numbering in Word is to set it up in a multilevel list with two levels, so that level 1 can restart level 2. What Stefan told you is correct. Shauna Kelly's article remains the starting place to get stable numbering. If you want to have someone look at the problem document, you can attach it to a post here.

I just discovered an excellent series of short videos on multilevel list numbering by Jason Morrell. You may want to look at that.
